Maires Winery and Vineyards was established in 2005 when cousins Fernando and Pablo decided to follow in their winemaking ancestors’ footsteps. They decided to establish their dream in the region of Toro which has a rich wine history dating all the way back to before the Roman settlement. The region of Toro, which is part of the larger region of Castilla y León in Northwest Spain, is known for crafting powerful reds from the Tinta de Toro grape (otherwise known as Tempranillo). With notes of wild berries and sweet baking spices from 5 months in French oak, this big wine is ready to be paired with a hefty hunk of red meat or some jamón ibérico.
