Harslevelu

Tokaj, Hungary

Tokaj, Hungary is home to many interesting wines that you may not often hear about. One example is this Harslevelu from Affinitas Winery. Harslevelu (pronounced harsh-level-oo) is the 10th most planted varietal in Hungary. The name translates to “linden leaf” due to the similarities between the leaves on the vine and the leaves from the linden tree. Harslevelu is an offspring of Furmint although the other parent grape is unknown. Rising in popularity, this varietal is on its way to becoming a Hungarian flagship wine. You will find notes of lemon, elderflower, honey, and some lychee. This pairs perfectly with a light fruit summer salad.
